⚠️ Draft for review. This reflects how the app is built today, but should be reviewed by counsel and finalized before public launch.
Loop is an invite-only dating app where your friends set you up. We collect only what we need to run that, we never sell your data, and no one outside your own friend graph sees who you're interested in. This policy explains what we hold and why.
Who we are
Loop ("we", "us") operates the Loop mobile app and this website. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
Your account & profile — name, date of birth (to confirm you're 18+ and show your age), city, occupation, bio, photos, gender, who you're looking for, and the optional details you add (height, intentions, interests).
Sign in with Apple — we use Apple's sign-in; we receive the identifier Apple provides. If you choose Apple's private relay email, we only ever see the relay address.
Your connections — the friends you connect with and the invites you send or redeem, which form the friend graph the app runs on.
Contacts (only if you allow it) — to find friends already on Loop, we create one-way hashes (SHA-256) of contact emails and phone numbers on your device and match on those. We do not store your contacts' names, numbers, or emails in readable form.
Activity in the app — intros, likes, matches, and the messages in your one-on-one chats.
We do not collect your location, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
How we use it
To build your profile and show you to the right people within your friend graph.
To let friends act as matchmakers and broker introductions.
To run your chats, matches, and notifications.
To keep Loop safe (enforcing invite-only access, blocks, and abuse limits).
The privacy rule that defines Loop
No surface in Loop reveals who likes, matched with, or is interested in whom. You can be part of several introductions privately. The one exception: a matchmaker sees the outcome of an introduction they personally made — and nothing about anyone else's. This is enforced in our data layer, not just the interface.
Who your data is shared with
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. Your profile is visible only to people in your first- and second-degree friend graph, per the app's rules. We use Supabase as our backend infrastructure (database, storage, and realtime) and Apple for sign-in and push notifications; they process data on our behalf. We may disclose data if required by law.
Storage, security & retention
Data is stored on our Supabase backend with row-level security so people can only read what they're allowed to. Photos are held in access-controlled storage. We keep your data while your account is active.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from Settings in the app. This permanently removes your profile, photos, friend connections, and matchmaker history. Some records may persist briefly in backups before rotating out.
Your choices
Contacts, notifications, and photo access are all permission-gated — you can decline or revoke them in iOS Settings.
You can edit or remove profile details at any time, and pause your profile to disappear from discovery.
To request access to or deletion of your data, email [email protected].
Age
Loop is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
